چکیده

This paper provides an illustrated description of a proposed LiBr-H2O vapour absorption refrigerator which uses a thermally activated solution pumping mechanism that combines controlled variations in generator vapour pressure with changes it produces in static-head pressure difference to circulate the absorbent solution between the generator and absorber vessels. The proposed system is different and potentially more efficient than a bubble pump system previously proposed and avoids the need for an electrically powered circulation pump found in most conventional LiBr absorption refrigerators. The paper goes on to provide a sample set of calculations that show that the coefficient of performance values of the proposed cycle are similar to those found for conventional cycles. The theoretical results compare favourably with some preliminary experimental results, which are also presented for the first time in this paper. The paper ends by proposing an outline design for an innovative steam valve, which is a key component needed to control the solution pumping mechanism.

Transient Characteristics of a Single-Effect Absorption Refrigeration Cycle

This paper deals with a lumped-parameter dynamic simulation of a single-effect LiBr-H2O absorption chiller. In many studies the thermodynamic properties of LiBr-H2O solution were taken from some approximate relations causing the results to be somewhat inaccurate. These relations were used to solve simultaneous differential equations involving the continuity of species constituting the LiBr-H2O ...

Performance of a Solar LiBr - Water Absorption Refrigerating Systems

Up to now, the production of the cold is undertaking mainly by the classical way of compression refrigerator cycle. The cycle need an electrical power or mechanics expense for the training of the compressor and the C.F.C for their functioning. Most of the C.F.C impoverish the layer of ozone and participate with a considerable manner, to the increase of the sere effect, then to climatic changes....

New Solvent Systems for Distillation and Absorption Intensification

Solvents with an improved price/performance ratio allow for processes with less operating and/or capital expenditure. Therefore, from an industrial perspective, it is worth reviewing the R&D progress in designing new competitive solvents on a regular basis. This paper aims at discussing the potential of new solvent systems applicable as absorbents or entrainers for boosting the performance of a...

An investigation of heat and mass transfer enhancement of air dehumidification with addition of γ-Al2O3 nano-particles to liquid desiccant

This study introduces an experimental and theoretical investigation of the performance of a proposed air dehumidification system using a nanofluid of γ-alumina nano-particles in LiBr/H2O as a desiccant. Comparative experiments organized using a central composite design were carried out to evaluate the effects of six numerical factors (air velocity, desiccant flow rate, air humidity ratio, desic...

Proposal and analysis of a high-efficiency combined desalination and refrigeration system based on the LiBr-H2O absorption cycle — Part 1: System configuration and mathematical model

Simultaneous production of fresh water and refrigeration are often required, e.g. in warm-climate water-deficient regions, and this study is a proposal and analysis of an efficient way of producing both of them by consuming mainly low-grade heat. After introducing the configuration choice methodology, a combined refrigeration and water system, ARHP-MEE (Absorption Refrigeration Heat Pump and Mu...
